Ankaran Mediterranean Salt Park

The Mediterranean salt meadow is the only meadow of its kind in Slovenia and one of the few on the eastern Adriatic coast. This unique and ecologically important area lies between Sv. Katarina and Sv. Nikolaj and represents a special example of a seashore, which is not steep, rocky or sandy, but rather muddy, moist and shallow. The area is extremely important for many birds and is the habitat of rare and endangered halophilic plants, so visitors can only visit it by walking on a raised wooden educational footpath. It is an extremely photogenic and peaceful piece of the Slovenian coast, where you can listen to birdsong and enjoy sea views while walking along the wooden path.
