The wine-growing region of Haloze
The area around Ptuj has a long-standing wine-growing tradition. Haloze is a world of rugged, hilly vineyards. To the south over the Dravinja, there are steeper hills such as Donačka gora and Boč that are popular hiking destinations. Between Ptuj and Zavrč, Borl Castle stands on an imposing rock overlooking the Drava.
