General information

Open since 2007, this four-star superior hotel has 119 rooms. It is situated next to the golf course and the Terme Ptuj Thermal Park. The hotel has three storeys and a ground floor. The hotel swimming pools, restaurants, bars and wellness centre are inside the hotel. There are five room types to choose from. Some rooms feature a bathtub with thermal mineral water. All rooms have air conditioning. The hotel has a parking garage available for a surcharge of EUR 5 per day.

Hotel thermal pools

The hotel has 5 Vespasianus pools: an indoor and outdoor thermal pool (33 °C), an indoor children’s pool (33 °C, 27 to 60 cm deep), the Pool of two emperors with thermal water (33 °C) and 2 whirlpools (36 °C). The pools are open all year round and every day from 8:00 to 22:00, while the Pool of two emperors is available for private groups and physiotherapy treatments. There is a bar next to the indoor pools. There are two other pools in the world of saunas: a hot (35 °C) and cold Kneipp pool (16 °C), open Friday to Sunday from 11:00 to 22:00 and Monday to Thursday from 15:00 to 22:00. The Vespasianus pool complex is open until 20:00 every other Monday of the month. Hotel guests also enjoy two free admissions a day to the Terme Ptuj Thermal Park. The indoor Thermal Park is open from 8:00 to 22:00 (to 20:00 on the first Monday of each month) on Monday to Friday and from 7:00 to 22:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. In the winter, night swimming is available on Fridays from 20:00 to midnight. The outdoor Thermal Park is open from 1.5. to 15.9.2017 (subject to the weather) from 9:00 to 20:00.

Hotel gastronomy

There are 2 hotel restaurants (the Grand Hotel Primus buffet restaurant and the Primus Restaurant à la carte), 2 bars (the Aperitif Bar is open from 8:00 to 22:00, Fridays to Saturdays until 23:00; the poolside bar is open from 11:00 to 21:00 and offers daily lunches, pasta and salads to order, drinks and desserts) and the Gemina Club, which is open during organised events. Room service is available from 7:00 to 22:00. Breakfast in the buffet restaurant is served from 7:00 to 10:00, lunch from 12:00 to 15:00 and dinner from 18:30 to 21:00. In the Terme Ptuj Thermal Park, you will find the Zila Restaurant and 4 bars in the outdoor area.

Health and wellness

The Flavia world of saunas is part of the Valens Augusta Wellness Centre. It has 5 saunas (2 Finnish, 3 Turkish) and an ice cave. The saunas include a hot and cold Kneipp pool. Wellness services include massage therapies and beauty treatments. The wellness centre and saunas are open Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 22:00. Select accommodation packages include free admission to the saunas. Hotel guests can also use the Terme Ptuj Thermal Park saunas (3 Finnish, 1 Turkish, 1 Finnish in a wine barrel) and wellness services, which include classic massage to order. The indoor saunas are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 21:30 and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 7:30 to 21:30. The outdoor saunas are open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9:00 to 21:30. Subject to a surcharge, guests can also use the Terme Ptuj Health Centre services (sports medicine, spine diseases, degenerative diseases), which is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00.

The Ptuj Golf Course

There is an 18-hole golf course next to the hotel. It is distinguished by a number of water hazards. The golf course reception is open from 8:00 to 17:00 and from 7:00 to 19:00 in high season. Golfers can play until dusk. Golf carts and equipment are available to rent. Organised lessons and a golf school are available.

Terme Ptuj is situated near the town of Ptuj. If you are arriving from the direction of Ljubljana, take the A1 motorway towards Maribor and Gradec. Before you reach Maribor, turn right at the Slivnica junction towards Ptuj and Zagreb (CRO). Leave the motorway at the Hajdina exit and continue straight along the main road for Ptuj. Turn left before the bridge over the Drava and follow the main road for about 1 km (follow the signs for Terme Ptuj). It is 130 km to Ljubljana, 225 km to Trieste, 375 km to Venice, 630 km to Milan, 485 km to Munich, 350 km to Salzburg, 100 km to Graz, 290 km to Vienna, 310 km to Budapest, 100 km to Zagreb and 490 km to Belgrade. The bus and railway station are 3 km away. Maribor Airport is 20 km away.

Easter 2017 Wellness
The hotel and staff have meet the expectations. The staff is very kind and helpful, hotel is rich of content, and the food delicious. Three days of relax in the spa zone, where didn’t miss anything: indoor and outdoor pool, 6 kinds of sauna, massages, relax zone etc. Perfect for couples. Easily possibile I’ll return the next year again. Very recommended.

Best hotel around! Deep Thermal water in every room, great pools for relaxation, outdoor pool too, children pool, small fancy restaurant by pool. Really comfortable sauna area. Everything nice and comfy. Nice view onto fields on one side and to Terme Ptuj on other side. Will visit again! Recommend!

Fantastic massages
Wonderful hotel! Good room, some of them with thermal water. Very nice swimming pool: we recommend massages because they are fantastic! Very rich breakfast and a lot of variety for dinner. Good service level. 1 km far from the little town: very suggestive view although not great shopping. The hotel could be also useful for meeting and convention.

Perfect hotel for a business meeting
The hotel was great, the staff very friendly and the help with organizing the meeting perfect. There was lots of great food at breakfast and dinner. The hotel is close to the old city in Ptuj and in the morning it is very easy to take a relaxing swim or jog along the river.

The Thermal Park

The Thermal Park offers so many activities that we sometimes jokingly ask our visitors whether they’ve made an itinerary of things to try this time. O ...ur Thermal Park boasts the largest system of waterslides in Slovenia, which includes waterslides with rafts, landing jumps up to 7 m long and slower waterslides with more twists and turns. The Olympic-size swimming pool with a diving board is large enough for swimming and the many water attractions organised by our entertainment coordinators. The wave pool and children’s pool with play equipment will keep our youngest guests entertained. On the edge of the park, near the tall trees, you will find the relaxation pool. The indoor Thermal Park is open all year round and features thermal pools, whirlpools, one outdoor pool and an indoor waterslide. Hotel guests have free admission twice a day to the Thermal Park.

Who was the Grand Hotel Primus named after?

Where Grand Hotel Primus stands today, a military consultation was held in the year 69 to choose the new emperor of the Roman Empire. It was Marcus Antonius Primus, the legion commander, who had a decisive influence on the election of Emperor Vespasian. He stood very passionately for what he believed in. Independent, capable and talented, he never hesitated and was always ready for action. He was a born motivator with excellent rhetorical skills. Described as “speaking with shining eyes and a stentorian voice”, he earned great trust and a solid reputation among the soldiers. We should all be Primus sometimes and put ourselves first (in Latin, “primus” signifies “the first”).
