Indications

  • Physicochemical properties: Looking at its physical criteria, it is classified as thermal water with a temperature at the source of approximately 39 °C. According to chemical criteria, it is a low-mineral water with 0.35 g of dissolved substances per litre, where the most common cation is sodium (Na+), and the most common anion is hydrogen carbonate (HCO3–). Its content of free hydrogen ions gives it a slightly alkaline character. The natural water at Terme Ptuj is classified as sodium bicarbonate, slightly acratothermal water.
  • Indications: Indications for use are in degenerative rheumatism, extra-articular rheumatism, chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases, conditions causing functional impairment following injuries to and operations on the locomotor system, and skin diseases.

  • Physicochemical properties: The CO2-rich mineral water from Radenci is a sodium-calcium bicarbonate acid with a total concentration of solids at 3457 mg/l and with 4555 mg/l of dissolved carbon dioxide, the concentration of which makes it one of the most CO2-rich mineral waters in Europe. The temperature of the water at the source is 41 °C, which puts it in the category of hyperthermal waters.

Mud wraps

Health Resort Zdravilišče Radenci

Used for the treatment of degenerative joint diseases and conditions after injuries to or operations on the locomotor apparatus. Medicinal freshwater mud effectively transfers heat to the depth of the tissues and thus reduces arterial blood pressure, with blood circulation also increasing at the place of application. A peloid wrap also produces a mild soothing effect, relieves pain, and has a beneficial effect on chronic inflammation. Medicinal mud is used in the treatment of chronic diseases of the skeleton, joints, and muscles, and following operations and injuries. In healthy people, peloid wraps reduce stress and calm the nerves, so they are excellent in combination with mineral water baths and massages.

Climate

Health Resort Zdravilišče Radenci

Climatotherapy or exposure to a mild climate, which produces stimulating effects on well-being, is used in health resort therapy in combination with the healing factors of mud and mineral or thermal water. The sub-Alpine-Pannonian climate is characterised by many sunny days (Radenci > 250 days a year), a moderate amount of precipitation, and a calm atmosphere. It has an excellent effect on human well-being and health. Health Resort Zdravilišče Radenci was the first resort in Slovenia to be recognised as a bioclimatic health resort.
