Cycling routes for exploring Prekmurje

  • An energy-filled adventure

The rolling hills of Prekmurje are suitable for everyone, even if you do not exercise regularly. After climbing Vučja Gomila and taking in the view of the vineyards and fields, the route will take you past Lake Bukovnica with its 50 energy points, through the village of Filovci, which boasts a long tradition of pottery, and past the Jože Plečnik-designed church in Bogojina.

  • A great adventure

The ascent to Grad makes this a difficult route, but one that is still easily managed by people who are at least slightly physically active. We recommend making a stop at Lake Lendava and visiting the Ferencovi agritourism farm in Krašča, where you can see their collection of old farming machinery. Before returning, you can also stop at the Smodiš farm, where you can refresh yourself with Prekmurje delicacies while enjoying the view.

  • A grand rhapsody

The route is easily managed by somewhat well-prepared recreational cyclists. The sights include the Goričko Vineyard Centre in a former farm; the Rengeo farm, where you can sample local Prekmurje products; and the educational forest trail that passes the Rotunda in the village of Selo. There are also plenty of opportunities to take a break, so the route is perfect for everyone interested in beautiful views and natural sights. The route includes a number of medium-length ascents and descents.

A day of Prekmurje mysteries

This route on some gravel but mostly asphalt roads, with a number of short and steep ascents and descents, follows local roads, cycling trails and forest gravel trails. A full-day cycling trip with a number of stops and sights such as Rotunda, the Dobrovnik tropical garden, the Puhan agritourism farm and the Bogojina village, is suitable for physically fitter cyclists. The best choice is a trekking bike suitable for cycling on gravel roads or potentially a mountain bike. Because of the many ascents in Goričko, we recommend renting an electric bicycle if you are less fit.

4 countries on one cycling holiday

Terme 3000 is an excellent starting point for exploring the sights of 4 countries on a single cycling holiday. To give you a better idea of how it is possible to visit 4 countries during one holiday, we have prepared an example 5-day cycling tour. Individual sections can also be explored independently or in a different order. Alternatively, you can book an experienced local guide to take you on the described tours.

Long-distance cycling routes

In Prekmurje and the surrounding area, you can join international long-distance routes, namely the Mur Cycle Path, the Drava Bike or the Eurovelo 9 – Amber Route.

Hotel Ajda and Hotel Termal – the perfect accommodation for cycling enthusiasts

Terme 3000 – Moravske Toplice offers a bicycle storage space where you can store and clean your bike. With thermal pools, wellness treatments and authentic Prekmurje gastronomy, the Hotel Ajda and the Hotel Termal are perfect choices for recharging your batteries after cycling.
  • The hotel is named after buckwheat (ajda in Slovenian), a typical local grain. In the hotel, it accompanies guests at every step – you will even find it in pillows for deep and peaceful sleep.
  • The Ajda thermal pool complex offers something for everyone, be it fans of water fun or people looking to lie by the pool, relaxing in the aromatherapy rest lounge, or warming up in the world of saunas.
  • The restaurants at Terme 3000 – Moravske Toplice serve over 40 buckwheat dishes, from the popular buckwheat “žganci” and groats, to the many buckwheat salads, desserts and even smoothies.
  • Situated in the heart of an area of thermal activity, Hotel Termal is closely linked to the beneficial black thermal water.
  • The Termal pool complex boasts beneficial thermal water. The indoor pools are filled with filtered water, while the outdoor pool is filled with unfiltered (black) water.
  • Besides the beneficial thermal mineral water, the hotel also features the Path of crystals and well-being, a rest lounge with chromotherapy, and a Finnish sauna – everything you need for rest and relaxation.
