The beginnings of the spa in Lendava are as unusual as the healing fossil thermal mineral water at Terme Lendava. The water was discovered in 1965 completely by accident when they were drilling for oil in the neighbouring village of Petišovci and were disappointed to find hot water rather than oil erupting from the bore.
The locals eventually found that bathing in this water eases the problems that come with age. Analyses have shown that the water is an oil fossil water with a temperature of 62 °C at its spring and a high level of paraffin, which gives it a green tinge and has a beneficial effect on the skin.
The water is suitable for the treatment and prevention of all types of rheumatism, post-injury recovery, recovery from motor system surgeries, recovery from peripheral nervous system diseases and from burns.
Treatments are available in the form of bathing, water gymnastics in thermal mineral water under expert guidance, or individual baths with added herbs and paraffin masks (paraffin retains heat for a long time) on the affected spots.
