Paraffin water

The basis for treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, recreation and relaxation at Terme Lendava is provided by the healing water that has been used for a number of years to alleviate problems and improve health.

According to the physical criteria, the water is hyperthermal. It has a temperature of 62 °C at the source. By definition, thermal water comes from a spring that has the same temperature (higher than 20 °C) all year round. Hyperthermal water must have a temperature of over 38 °C at the spring.

According to the chemical criteria, the water is mineral, namely a sodium hydrogencarbonate. In order to qualify as mineral, 1 kg of water must contain over 1 g of mineral substances. A special characteristic of the Lendava water is its high level of paraffin, which makes it especially suitable for the treatment of motor system diseases (paraffin has a high heat capacity and a low conductivity), rheumatism, post-operative states, burns, peripheral nervous system damage and, above all, for the prevention of diseases.

By geological origin, the Lendava water is a fossil water, specifically an oil fossil water, because it is found in the area of the former Pannonian sea and oil fields. This is why the water has pharmacological effects on the skin.

To sum up: physical and chemical analyses have shown that the Lendava water is a sodium hydrogencarbonate, mineral, hyperthermal, oil fossil water. A special characteristic of the water is the high level of paraffin it contains.

In balneotherapy (or water-based treatment), not just the physical characteristics, but also the chemical and pharmacological effects of the water are used. The treatments can be carried out in individual baths or in swimming pools, where the temperature is 34-36 °C. In the summer, you can also take advantage of the recreational, Olympic-size swimming pool with heated regular water.
